Older Persons Month – Tea At the Pines 12th October
Around a dozen Pink Ladies assisted by 3 or 4 friends spent Saturday afternoon at The Pines serving tea to over 120 guests. This annual event seems to go from strength to strength.
Tables had been set up and very prettily decorated in Miss Olive’s garden and these were soon packed with seniors from across the island.
Pink Ladies volunteers served the guests a wonderful assortment of sandwiches, patties, cakes, cookies and fresh fruits, all washed down by tea and fruit punch.
The group were kept entertained by a quiz and music, with some taking to the dance floor once the food service was finished. Everyone seemed to enjoy the event which was still going strong as we left after the published finishing time of 6pm.
Many, many thanks to all who made sandwiches, baked or donated foods for this event and of course the volunteers for all their work during the afternoon.
